“In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God…” – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
After fifteen years of marriage, a wife awoke one morning and realised that the man lying beside her was not the same individual she had gone to bed with the previous night. His peculiar behaviour sparked her curiosity, and the wife and husband decided to visit the doctor.
The doctor conducted an examination, and after a few hours, he summoned them to his office. Little did they know that what the doctor was about to relay would be life-changing. The doctor’s countenance was sad, but as he read the diagnosis, the wife began to experience emotional turmoil. However, the doctor assured her that the medication would restore some amount of normalcy and all would be okay.
Even after receiving this disturbing news the wife maintained her composure, smiling at the polite doctor and said, “Thanks for your kind assistance,” and then returned home.
Over the next couple of weeks, the husband’s situation worsened. Despite the circumstances, she continued to pray and care for her husband as if everything was normal. Daily, the wife would thank God for his life and, by faith, dare to believe God for His healing.
Friends, within three months, God answered the wife’s prayer. Today, the husband is now providing and caring for his family as he continues to serve at his local church worshipping and giving God all the praise. Brethren, isn’t the God we serve amazing?
You know the mere fact that God has afforded us the opportunity to have His breath for another day is enough for you and me to be thankful. Therefore, let us inculcate an attitude of gratitude, as demonstrated by the one leper who returned to say thanks in Luke 17:11-19, remembering that God is still on the throne.
Give God the praise. He knows best!
